Nicknames for Gene SNPs

Article written by Tom Wood, 4 star business affiliate with Genewize...

I’ve been involved in GeneWize since the beginning and I still can’t tell you the names of all the SNPs we test.

Since I’m a top earner with the company it’s obviously not critical to know what each SNP is, but I’ve become more curious and interested in the science the more I’ve been here.
To help myself out, I’ve nicknamed each SNP so we can remember them. Use this guide to share with your guests and to help you realize and remember all this science does for us.

Bone Strength Gene™ – SNP 1: VDR (Vitamin D Receptor)
Detox Gene™ — SNP 2: EPHX (Microsomal Epoxide Hydrolase)
CoQ10 Gene™ — SNP 3: NQ01 (Coenzyme Q10 Reductase)
Superoxide Gene™ Free Radical Defense — SNP 4: SOD2 (Manganese Superoxide Dimutase)
Lung and Breast Tissue Gene™ — SNP 5: GPX1 (Glutathione Peroxidase 1)
Collagen Health Gene™ — SNP 6: MMP-1 (Matrix Metalloproteinase)
Cardiovascular Gene™ — SNP 7: MTRR ( Methionine Sythase Reductase)
Cardiovascular Enzyme Gene™ — SNP 8: MTHFR (Methylene Tetrahydrofolate Reductase)
Inflammation Response Gene™ — – SNP 9: TNF-a (Tumor Necrosis Factor – a)
Cholesterol Oxidation Gene™ — SNP10: PON-1 (Paraxonase 1)
Blood Pressure Gene™ — – SNP 12: ApoB (Apolipoprotein B)

Bone Strength Gene™ — SNP 1: VDR (Vitamin D Receptor) — The strength of our bones is influenced by the VDR gene. In fact, among healthy people, this one gene accounts for 75% of the entire genetic influence on bone density.i People with SNPs in the VDR gene tend to have lower bone mineral density than those without these variations.ii,iii,iv SNPs in this gene may also influence young adult growth,v parathyroid hormone production,vi normal cell division, vii and blood sugar regulation.
Supportive ingredients include: Calcium (as Calcium Carbonate), Vitamin K1 (as phytonadione), Vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol).

Detox Gene™ — SNP 2: EPHX (Microsomal Epoxide Hydrolase) — Epoxides are toxic, highly reactive foreign chemicals present in cigarette smoke, car exhaust, charcoal-grilled meat, and smoke from burning wood, pesticides, and alcohol.  The body’s way of dealing with epoxides is through the enzyme microsomal EPHX, which detoxifies these foreign compounds. Due to a SNP on the EPHX gene, people with lowered EPHX activity will have difficulty detoxifying harmful substances and thus be particularly vulnerable to their effects.

Supportive ingredients include: Milk Thistle extract [(Silybum marianum) standardize to 80% silymarin] Oxyphyte® Green Tea extract [(Camellia sinensis) standardized to 90% polyphenols], Broccoli extract [(Brassica oleracea) standardized to 1.2% sulphoraphane], Burdock Root powder (Arctium pubens), Kale powder (Brassica oleracea), Artichoke extract [(Cynara scolymus) standardized to 4% chlorogenic acid/9% caffeoylquinic acid], Schizandra Berry powder (Schisandra chinensis ), Gotu Kola extract (Centella asiatica).

CoQ10 Gene™ — SNP 3: NQ01 (Coenzyme Q10 Reductase) — Free radicals are considered by many scientists to be the primary cause of aging. The coenzyme Q10 reductase (NQO1) enzyme converts coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) to its reduced form, ubiquinol, which scavenges free radicals in the mitochondria and lipid membranes.ix Some individuals have a SNP in the NQO1 gene that slows the reduction of ubiquinone to ubiquinol, resulting in very low blood levels of this key antioxidant. Consequently, people with this SNP are at high risk of free radical attack.x Because NQO1 is also involved in the detoxification of compounds foreign to the body, a SNP in the NQO1 gene may cause aberrant cellular changes.

Supportive ingredients: Ubiquinone or Ubiquinol — Depends on which form of CoQ10 your body can metabolize. You don’t know unless you run a genetic test.

Superoxide Gene™ Free Radical Defense – SNP 4: SOD2 (Manganese Superoxide Dimutase) — The SOD2 enzyme is also involved in scavenging free radicals. However, SOD2 is focused on one particularly toxic type of free radical: superoxide.xi Since the superoxide radical is produced in abundance in all cells, it is the starting point for the free radical chain of production. SOD2 has the distinction of being the only enzyme in the mitochondria that can neutralize superoxide.xii Individuals with a SNP in this gene therefore have a weak first line of defense against free radicals.

Supportive ingredients include: Spirulina powder (Arthrospira platensis ), Oxyphyte® Green Tea extract [(Camellia sinensis) standardized to 90% Polyphenols], Oxyphyte® White Tea extract (Camellia sinensis ) standardized to 90% Polyphenols], Bilberry extract [(Vaccinium myrtillus) standardized to 5% anthocyanins], Vitamin B3 (as Niacinamide).

Lung and Breast Tissue Gene™ — SNP 5: GPX1 (Glutathione Peroxidase 1) — The GPX1 antioxidant enzyme specifically scavenges hydrogen peroxide, a reactive oxygen species. GPX1 is a selenoprotein, meaning it incorporates selenium into its protein structure.xiii Therefore, how much GPX1 a person produces is dependent on their selenium level.13 A SNP on the GPX1 gene can reduce a person’s ability to utilize selenium.xiv,xv That means higher-than-normal selenium intake is needed to afford protection to hydrogen peroxide-sensitive tissues, particularly lung and breast tissues.

Supportive ingredients include: Proprietary blend: Citrus Bioflavonoids powder (Citrus limonium, Citrus paradise and Citrus sinensis ), Milk Thistle extract [(Silybum marianum) standardized to 80% silymarin], Astragalus Root powder ( Astragalus membranaceus), Ginkgo Biloba extract [(Ginkgo biloba) standardized to 24% Flavoglycosides/6% Terpene Lactones], Oxyphyte® Grape Skin extract [(Vitis vinifera) standardized to 10% resveratrol], Alpha Lipoic Acid, Organic Blueberry extract [(Vaccinium angustifolium) standardized to 2% polyphenols], Organic Black Currant extract [( Ribes nigrum) standardized to 2% polyphenols], Tumeric extract [(Curcuma longa) standardized to 95% curcumin], Garlic Powder (Allium sativum), Selenium (as Selenium Amino Acid Chelate). Citrus Bioflavonoids powder (Citrus limonium, Citrus paradise and Citrussinensis ), Milk Thistle extract [(Silybum marianum) standardized to 80% silymarin], Astragalus Rootpowder ( Astragalus membranaceus), Ginkgo Biloba extract [(Ginkgo biloba) standardized to24% Flavoglycosides/6% Terpene Lactones], Oxyphyte® Grape Skin extract [(Vitis vinifera) standardizedto 10% resveratrol], Alpha Lipoic Acid, Organic Blueberry extract [(Vaccinium angustifolium) standardized to 2% polyphenols], Organic Black Currant extract [( Ribes nigrum) standardized to 2% polyphenols],Tumeric extract [(Curcuma longa) standardized to 95% curcumin], Garlic Powder (Allium sativum),Selenium (as Selenium Amino Acid Chelate).

Collagen Health Gene™ — SNP 6: MMP-1 (Matrix Metalloproteinase) — Collagen is the main component of cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and bone. It is constantly synthesized and broken down in an on-going cycle. MMP1, also known as collagenase, is an enzyme that degrades collagen. People with a SNP in the MMP1 gene produce collagenase at an increased rate, which means their bodies may break down collagen faster than they can rebuild it.xviii, xix These individuals will likely benefit from added support for collagen-rich structures such as the bones and joints.

Supportive ingredients include: Tomato powder [(Solanum lycopersicum) standardized to 0.8% lycopene], Oxyphyte® White Tea extract [(Camellia sinensis) standardized to 90% polyphenols], Oxyphyte® Grape Seed extract [(Vitis vinifera) standardized to 95% polyphenols].

Cardiovascular Gene ™ — SNP 7: MTRR ( Methionine Sythase Reductase) — Homocysteine is a metabolite of the amino acid methionine. Research has shown it is important to control homocysteine levels in order to preserve cardiovascular health.xx,xxi, xxii One of the body’s methods for keeping homocysteine levels in check is the MTRR enzyme, which transforms homocysteine back to either methionine or cysteine.xxiii When an individual has a SNP in the MTRR gene, their ability to clear homocysteine from the blood may be hindered. However, only certain population groups appear to be negatively affected by this SNP.

Supportive ingredients include: Trimethylglycine, Zinc (as Zinc Amino Acid Chelate), Dong Quai extract [(Angelica sinensis) standardized to 1.0% Ligustilide], Vitamin B3 (as Niacinamide), Vitamin B2, (as Riboflavin), Vitamin B12 (as Cyanocobalamin), Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine hydrochloride), Folate (as folic acid). Trimethylglycine, Zinc(as Zinc Amino Acid Chelate), Dong Quai extract [(Angelica sinensis) standardized to 1.0% Ligustilide], Vitamin B3 (as Niacinamide), Vitamin B2, (as Riboflavin), Vitamin B12 (as Cyanocobalamin), Vitamin B6(as Pyridoxine hydrochloride), Folate (as folic acid).

Cardiovascular Enzyme Gene™ — SNP 8: MTHFR (Methylene Tetrahydrofolate Reductase) — Like the MTRR enzyme, the MTHFR enzyme is responsible for reducing blood levels of homocysteine. People with a SNP in the MTHFR gene manufacture defective enzymes that can’t clear homocysteine from the blood efficiently. Research has shown there is a direct association between a SNP in the MRHFR gene and elevated levels of homocysteine, xxvi particularly in those with low levels of folate.

Supportive ingredients include: Trimethylglycine, Choline Bitartrate, L-methlyfolate.

Inflammation Response Gene™ — SNP 9: TNF-a (Tumor Necrosis Factor – a) — Inflammation is a response of the immune system to a perceived attack. While it is a helpful response in the short-term, if inflammation continues on-going, it can negatively affect the cells, tissues, and ultimately, the organs. TNF- is a cytokine (a chemical messenger of the immune system) that plays a role in inflammatory processes. Individuals with a SNP on the TNF- gene may have an over-reactive inflammation mechanism, which can negatively affect the joints, xxviii brain, xxix lungs, xxx and heart.xxxi

Supportive ingredients include: Milk Thistle extract [(Silybum marianum) standardized to 80% Silymarin], Oxyphyte® Green Tea extract [(Camellia sinensis) standardized to 90% Polyphenols], Pomegranate extract [( Punica granatum) standardized to 40% Ellagic Acid], Oxyphyte® Grape Seed extract [(Vitis vinifera) standardized to 95% polyphenols].

Cholesterol Oxidation Gene™ — SNP10: PON-1 (Paraxonase 1) — While it used to be thought that high cholesterol posed a health issue in and of itself, it is now believed that cholesterol only becomes a problem once the cholesterol carrier, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), becomes oxidized (attacked by free radicals). The PON1 enzyme attaches itself to high-density lipoprotein (HDL), which protects both HDL and LDL from oxidation.xxxii Due to common SNPs in the PON1 gene, blood levels of PON1 can vary by a factor of 10 to 40-fold among different individuals.xxxiii, xxxiv Those with low levels of PON1 have higher levels of oxidized LDL, which can lead to diminished cardiovascular health.xxxv, xxxvi

Supportive ingredients include: Organic Reshi Mushroom extract (Granoderma lucidum), Organic Shitake Mushroom extract (Lentinus edodes), Maitake Mushroom extract [(Grifola frondosa) standardized to 20% polysaccharides], Vitamin E (as dl-alpha tocopherol acetate).

Blood Pressure Gene™ — SNP 11: CYP11B2 (Aldosterone Synthase) — Maintaining blood pressure within the normal range is essential to a healthy heart. The CYP11B2 gene encodes an enzyme called aldosterone synthase, which plays a role in regulating blood pressure. A SNP on the CYP11B2 gene can decrease the ability of blood vessels to relax and constrict in response to changing demands for blood flow.xxxvii (For example, extra blood flow is needed during exercise.) That inability of the vessels to respond properly can set the stage for cardiovascular issues down the road.xxxviii

Supportive ingredients include: Potassium (as Tripotassium citrate monohydrate), Organic Hawthorn Berry extract [(Crataegus laevigata) standardized to 1.5% polyphenols/0.5% flavonoids], Magnesium (as Magnesium Citrate), Acerola Cherry Extract [( Malpighia glabra) standardized to 17% Vitamin C], Garlic powder (Allium sativum). Potassium (as Tripotassium citrate monohydrate), Organic Hawthorn Berry extract [(Crataegus laevigata) standardized to 1.5% polyphenols/0.5% flavonoids], Magnesium (as Magnesium Citrate), Acerola Cherry Extract[( Malpighia glabra) standardized to 17% Vitamin C], Garlic powder (Allium sativum).

Cholesterol Gene™ — SNP 12: ApoB (Apolipoprotein B) — Cholesterol is carried through the bloodstream on various lipoproteins: low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL). Apolipoproteins make up the protein part of lipoproteins. One of the more researched apolipoproteins is apolipoprotein B (ApoB); it constitutes the protein component of LDL, the “bad” kind of cholesterol carrier. In fact, without ApoB, LDL cannot form. Because people with SNPs on the ApoB gene have higher ApoB levels, they experience moderate increases in total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides, xxxix,xl,xli, xlii as well as impaired glucose tolerancexliii and increased blood lipid response after meals.xli.

Supportive ingredients include: Oxyphyte® Green Tea extract [(Camellia sinensis) standardized to 90% polyphenols], Pomegranate extract [( Punica granatum) standardized to 40% ellagic acid], Artichoke extract [(Cynara scolymus) standardized to 4% chlorogenic acid/9% caffeolyquinic acid], Oxyphyte® Grape Skin extract [(Vitis vinifera) standardized to 10% resveratrol].

Turkey Health Benefits

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!

Turkey has become a favorite of those on low-fat diets, along with chicken. Recent studies have shown that cooking poultry with the skin on seals in the natural juices and the fat from the skin does not seep into the meat. So, dieters can avoid dried-out skinless cuts and just remove the skin before consuming.

Turkey is naturally low in fat without the skin, containing only 1 gram of fat per ounce of flesh. A 5-ounce serving provides almost half of the recommended daily allowance of folic acid, and is a good source of vitamins B, B1,B6, zinc and potassium. These nutrients have been found to keep blood cholesterol down, protect against birth defects, cancer and heart disease, aid in nerve function and growth, boost the immune system, regulate blood pressure, and assist in healing processes.
For those watching their fat intake, stick to white turkey meat. Bake, broil, or sauté in as little oil as possible, using broth, lemon, or orange juice as a basting sauce.

DNA: No One Does it Like GeneWize

Click the link above to watch an great interactive video on the process of extracting DNA for analysis. You’ll discover this process is complex and not easily duplicated by a nutrition or skin care companies.

GeneWize’s patented process goes above and beyond the normal analysis as described in the video above. In addition to strict privacy and security GeneWize analyzes both DNA strands for increased accuracy. There are not many companies that do this because of the extra cost involved, but GeneWize knows the importance of accuracy when providing an analysis for the customer.
A HUGE ADVANTAGE
Since GeneWize owns patents on their DNA collection and analysis process they are able to offer their DNA test for FREE to people who commit to just three months of customized products.

This breakthrough in price is so extraordinary that articles are still predicting that genomics tests will someday drop below $100 (reference) even though free is now available. As far as I know GeneWize is the first company in the world to offer the FREE DNA test.

As a consumer of the product you know you’re getting the highest quality, most accurate products at the lowest price possible. There is nothing like the GeneWize products anywhere.

As an affiliate of the business this is good news for you. Here are the advantages in your business.

■You’re first in an industry expect to be worth billions (think of how cell phone technology changed the telephone industry, that’s what genetics will do to the health and beauty industries).

■You’re protected by patents and the difficulty of entry into this industry. The science is so complicated that it is not likely a competitor will show up very soon. When they do, GeneWize will be on to the next phase… always years ahead of the competition.

■You’ve got the lowest price available for genetic testing (FREE!) because GeneWize owns the research and patents. This has never been done before and will be extremely difficult for another company to duplicate.

■You won’t find underselling of the product on eBay — these products are made exclusively for one person, they can’t buy and resell like just about every other network marketing product out there.

■You won’t find copycats in Wal*Mart or on the Internet — successful network marketing companies must eventually compete with billion dollar companies. Since our product is custom you won’t find it on the shelves of big stores.

■It’s an explosive market — the “WOW” factor to the consumer and the real results seen from the customer base are an unprecedented combination.

■It naturally networks — many network marketing companies try to make their opportunity unique because their products don’t network naturally. GeneWize’s opportunity networks naturally because the product does the same. It’s rare to have both in the network marketing business today.

■Unprecedented retention — people stay on the product longer than any network marketing product I’ve ever heard of. The reason is because it’s made exclusively for them. If someone quits GeneWize nutrition or skin care it’s not because they are switching to another product — customers know that nothing compares with “made for my DNA”. Plus those who refer 4 and get their product for free never leave… it’s FREE!

CONCLUSION
Starting with the process of collecting your DNA and continuing on to manufacturing, pricing and providing a significant business opportunity GeneWize has something you won’t find anywhere else.
If you’re looking for anti-aging and fitness products made for your DNA there is nowhere else to go. If you’re looking for a business with a significant long-term advantage or a powerful investment (GNLK.OB) this is the place.
Now is the time.

Double Blind Proof by Tom Wood, Genewize Affiliate

Did you know that there have been double blind “half-face” studies on the GeneWize ME Skin Repair Serum?

■Half the face got ME Essentials

■Half the face got ME DNA Customized

■It was double blind, which means the subject and the applicator didn’t know which side got what

■70% saw a noticeable improvement on the customized side of the face

Can you believe that they compared the DNA customized product to a great product and not a placebo? Most companies would have given half the face nothing and half the face the customized product.

GeneWize’s basically showed that DNA customization is better than a non-customized product… by 70%!

Quality Control

Careful Steps to Perfect Products
Priority Number One: Quality Control

At the recent One of a Kind GeneWize Celebration, Dr. Donald J. Cannon reminded all guests how fully committed both GeneLink and GeneWize are to the precepts of quality control. Dr. Cannon who received his A.B. in Chemistry from Harvard College and a M.A. in Medical Sciences and a Ph.D in Biochemistry from Boston University is currently Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Forensic Sciences program at the University of Tampa. In addition to serving as Laboratory Director in Forensic Toxicology, National Manager of Operations Excellence and National Manager of Special Projects in Business Ventures at Quest Diagnostics, he has over 130 publications and has received numerous awards related to clinical laboratory medicine, laboratory management and teaching.

Standing at the podium, Dr. Cannon emphasized with his presentation that when you’re in the business of creating personalized solutions specifically designed to support each individual body, ensuring quality is priority number one.

That’s why at GeneWize, quality control takes center stage:

•Achieved by identifying failure, seeking the root cause and taking corrective/preventive action

•Infrastructure is in place (committee manuals, policies and documents).

•Gap Analysis continues to examine workflow paths.

GeneWize offers the only patented, FDA reviewed, non-invasive, self-administered DNA collection system available. The process is easy to understand, simple to do and takes just a few minutes. Simply swab the inside of your mouth (your inner cheek), and mail the swabs back to our laboratory in the special envelopes. Everything, along with easy-to-follow instructions and quality assurance, is included:
•DNA collection kits are bar coded and scanned for security and tracked throughout the process for quality control reporting using LIMS & Bio Informatics Tracking Systems

•All DNA Samples are destroyed after genotyping

•GeneLink is dedicated to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all consumers information—No information is shared...Period

Once at the lab:

•All DNA samples are analyzed bi-directionally; meaning that both strands are tested in both directions and must agree

•Very few labs, if any, test both strands of DNA. This ensures our repeatability to over 99%.

•Sentinel samples & Coriell cell lines samples are included in every batch to insure quality control. These results must agree before our systems allow any batch results to be uploaded.

•Labs are Certified by CLIA & CAP

During the manufacturing process, quality control of individual ingredients prior to blending is the most important step:

•All ingredients are purchased from various reputable, well-established and high-quality manufacturers, most are vertically-integrated (farm processing).

•All ingredients are NSF GMP certified and tested for quality, purity, strength and consistency

•All macronutrients, nutritional compounds, vitamins and minerals, are USP/NF grade. (United States Pharmacopeia/ National Formulary)

•USP/NF is an official public standards–setting authority for all prescription, over–the–counter medicines and widely recognized food and dietary ingredients.

•A Certificate of Analysis (C of A) from all ingredient manufacturers is required for every individual ingredient and in-house retesting of these ingredients is conducted to confirm quality, including:

     ◦Heavy metal content

     ◦Color/appearance/odor

◦Microbiological testing (e.g. total plate count, pathogens, yeast and molds)

     ◦Moisture content

     ◦Particle size

     ◦Photochemical content

◦Extraction ratio (solvent to raw material ratio) Bulk and/or tap density

◦ORAC values (oxygen radical absorbance capacity)

Conclusion:

All the steps involved during manufacturing (formula blending, quality control testing, capsule filling) all have one goal in common - QUALITY!

Quick Genetic Tutorial

Within every human cell is an individual’s blueprint for life —their DNA.  DNA contains the master information that is needed to construct and maintain the human body.

DNA is long. About six feet long, to be exact, if you took the DNA contained within one cell and stretched it end to end. There are several different ways that these long strands of DNA can be divided into smaller pieces.

1. Chromosomes

The largest unit of DNA is a chromosome. There are 23 pairs of chromosomes inside of our cells: one set from each parent. These 23 pairs contain all of our genetic information.

2. Genes

The next unit down is a gene, which is simply a sequence of DNA that corresponds to a particular inheritable trait. There is a gene for hair color, for example, and a gene for height. We get one gene from each parent for each inheritable trait. These are called alleles.  The main job of each gene is to encode — or tell the body how to build —different proteins. While that may seem like a small job, proteins serve many critical functions in the body. Enzymes, for example, are proteins.

3. Nucleotides

The smallest unit is a nucleotide, which is the “building block” of DNA.  Nucleotides are tiny: less than one millionth of a millimeter!

On a strictly DNA basis, humans are surprisingly alike. Despite our apparent differences, the DNA between any two people is 99.1% identical. That 0.9% variation in DNA, however, is hugely important, accounting for all of our genetic differences.

Small variations in DNA are called polymorphisms. Blood type is a common human polymorphism. Depending on the order in which the nucleotides in your DNA line up, you could have blood type A, B, A/B, or O. Some polymorphisms are so small, they affect the order of just one pair of nucleotides. These are called single nucleotide polymorphisms or SNPs (pronounced “snips”).

There are about 10 million SNPs in the human genome. Most of these SNPs occur in the DNA between genes and account for non-consequential differences.

However, some SNPs occur in the DNA within genes. These SNPs can have a dramatic impact on human health. They can predict how you will react to certain drugs. They can determine how susceptible you will be to environmental toxins. And they can cause you to produce faulty proteins that have a negative impact on the functioning of the body, and may lead to diminished health and wellness.

More to come ..

Rhonda

DNA vs URINE Analysis

By Tom Wood - Genewize Affiliate

I met a doctor in Houston recently who gave me a great understanding of the difference in DNA Analysis and Urine (metabolic) Analysis. They are both important but here’s how they are different.

  • DNA is prevention. Metabolic is reaction.
  • DNA is foundational. Metabolic is functional.
  • Your DNA never changes. Metabolics change daily.
  • Fix the foundation first (GeneWize). Then test the functions (multiple tests).

Here are some points he brought up.

No one knows the exact percentage but some say DNA is responsible for about 25% of your health and Lifestyle (what you eat, the air you breathe, fitness level, etc…) is responsible for 75%.

You must address BOTH: DNA and Lifestyle issues.

Only a DNA test will tell you about your DNA. Many things tell you about your Lifestyle including metabolic tests (Urine or Blood Analysis), Body Mass Index or other fitness tests, caloric and fat intake analysis, etc… Nutritionists have many tests.

Your DNA never changes. If you address this first, then you can address your Lifestyle knowing you have the base down.

Urine analysis will change if you change your lifestyle. This includes if you start taking your GeneWize supplements, start a fitness routine, etc…

Once you’ve addresses your DNA and get on your GeneWize supplements you can do many Lifestyle Tests (urine, blood, fitness, food intake, etc…) to determine if you need more support.

Your Lifestyle will continue to change and you’ll need to keep taking these tests and monitoring your lifestyle.

But as long as you are on GeneWize LifeMap you’ll always have the DNA part of the equation handled.

The Foundation Metaphor

If I had to give you a metaphor, the DNA analysis is the foundation to your home. The Lifestyle analysis are the design and maintenance of the many rooms in your home. Without a strong foundation it doesn’t matter how well you take care of the rooms. And if there is a hurricane, your foundation will stand strong if you take care of it well. You’ll always be able to build a better you no matter what. Take care of the foundation first. Then use ANY test you want to keep your home beautiful.

The GeneWize Difference

GeneWize addresses the foundational elements in your custom LifeMap solution. Very soon we’ll be adding “boosts” that will address Lifestyle issues. You can do metabolic tests, fitness tests and other tests throughout your life as your life changes. The one thing that will never change is your DNA. Take care of that first and then add nutrition based on your Lifestyle.

LDL Cholestoral - What Your Genes Reveal

The science behind the Lifemap Nutrition System is truly fascinating.

Chances are, what you’re about to read is a completely new way of looking at LDL cholesterol (the bad stuff!) and if you or someone you know struggles with high cholesterol, read on….this is interesting stuff!

First, let me explain how Genewize’s patented DNA test really works.

1.You receive a test kit in the mail, complete with instructions.

2.Swab the inside of your cheek to remove a layer of skin cells.

3.Allow the cotton swab to dry before putting it into the pre-paid envelop and sending to Genewize’s secure lab.

4.Lab technicians analyze your DNA looking particularly at 12 areas on your DNA, called SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms).

5.The results of the 12 SNPs shows how the related genes are expressed.

6.Your customized nutritional formula is titrated (mixed up) based on your unique results and the nutrients your body is given regulates the expression of those genes.

So, how does this relate to LDL cholesterol levels?

Well, that’s what I wanted to know…so I did a little research and this is what I found.

LDL (the bad cholesterol) has a protein component called APoB. Without APoB, LDL cannot form.

Now, as you know, your doc checks LDL levels as an indicator of your risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). But what I just learned, and am sharing with you now, is that LDL is in fact not as good an indicator of CHD as is APoB.

Remeber, LDL cannot form without APoB.

So, if we take a look at how our bodies form APoB and at what level, then we’ve got a pretty good indication of CHD risk.

Cool. So how is this done, right?

Well, that’s the interesting part about nutrigenomics (the study of how nutrition and genetics interact). What we can do now is peer into the APoB gene…and guess what?

If you have certain SNPs on the APoB gene, production of APoB increases and in turn….you got it…LDL levels increase as well.

So, here’s the good news.

If you have the genetic predisposition to increased APoB production, you can receive an APoB SNP boost in your LifeMap Nutritional formula which provides dietary ingredients to reduce ApoB production, reduce LDL and prevent LDL oxidation.

…and this is just ONE part of the genetic assessment Genewize has made so inexpensive for all of us to be able to peek into our genetic code and provide ourselves with the nutrients our bodies uniquely need.

Rhonda

The Birth of Genewize

GeneWize LifeSciences is a ground floor network marketing company that just launched publicly August 1st of 2008. But the technology behind it is in no way new...
It is actually an idea that was born over 14 years ago when a group of medical doctors and scientists got together with a vision...

They saw genetics as the future, and knew that with the deteriorating health of the people in our world today, DNA customized nutrition would be a revolutionary leap in wellness.

They understood the lack of nutritional support being served by today's "one-size-fits-all" supplements. They knew that it was time for this "shot gun" approach to health to be transformed into a laser targeted beam... An exact look into the genetics of each individual and a completely personalized approach to nutrition.

They formed GeneLink Biosciences, a biotechnology company dedicated to cracking the genetics and nutrition code. They worked diligently for over 14 years WITHOUT monetary compensation (only stock shares). Their passion, expertise, and dedication resulted in the emergence of the first ever genetically customized nutritional process.
The scientists of GeneLink are some of the most prestigious in the industry. Dr. Bernie Kasten, who is now the Chief Medical Officer for GeneLink, was the Chief Laboratory Officer for Quest Diagnostics, one of the largest diagnostics labs in the world. There are 5 other world-class MD's and scientists who are also on the Scientific Advisory Board.
They have received numerous awards in areas of nutrition, genetics, biology, and chemistry and currently have over 600 peer reviewed journal publications in circulation.

They now have 3 patents and 15 patents pending on their unique and CUTTING-EDGE technology and science.

They have discovered 12 DNA "snips" in our genetic code that are precise indicators of how healthy we are in different areas... everything from cardiovascular health, bone health, oxidative stress, detoxification, collagen production, and vision.

Through GeneLink's DNA assessment, they can determine each individual's genetic predispositions, genetic deficiencies, and absorption capacities.

Not only that, but they have also MASTERED the art of Nutrigenomics, the study of nutrition and genetics. They can use this assessment of our genes to determine which vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants we need to improve and even rejuvenate our DNA.

Once the development of mass customized genetic nutrition came to fruition, GeneLink assessed all of the different distribution methods available...

And decided wholeheartedly to go with network marketing... Not only because it is the most lucrative, but also because it is proven to be the most effective.
With that came the birth of GeneWize... the ONLY direct selling subsidiary of GeneLink's revolutionary science and technology.
Now that GeneLink has the patented technology for consumer based genetic products, they will be rolling out an entire pipeline of products through GeneWize in the very near future... everything from genetically customized skin care, make-up, and energy bars to supplements geared towards cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's.
The implications for this in our world are absolutely ENORMOUS.

Rhonda

Genewize Ribbon Cutting at Metro North Chamber of Commerce in Colorado

Superbowl MVP Partners with Genewize

Ray Lewis is using Genewize’s Life Map Nutrition. Life Map is a customized nutritional formula that is based on your DNA. This is a revolution in the health and wellness industry. What is exciting is that the company does not pay professional athletes to endorse the product. With all the products these atheletes are given, it is so refreshing to see that an athlete is talking about the product that he uses and his affiliation with the company because “it works”, not because he is getting paid millions for an endorsement. However, Ray Lewis’s endorsement may put money in his pocket, you see, Ray believes in this product so much, that he has become an affiliate.

Why Should I Personalize My Nutrition?

Up until now, every other vitamin and supplement on the market has been designed for the “average person”. Many nutritional companies are even aware of the fact that their supplements do not work for up to 2/3 of the population.

Have you ever wondered why some products work so well for some people and not for others? It’s because every single person on this planet is different, and our DNA proves that. We come in all shapes and sizes with a vast array of nutritional needs.

Odds are, you are probably spending money on supplements right now that may or may not be working for your specific body. Not only could you be throwing away money, but you might also be depriving your body of the support it truly needs.

Other companies in the past have provided metabolic testing through blood and urine samples to personalize nutrition. The problem with these methods is that they are extremely variable, and dependent on your body’s metabolism. As you know, your metabolic rate changes daily depending on the time of day or what you’ve eaten.

DNA testing is the only surefire way to get to the root of your body’s genetic needs. Your DNA is the only thing that NEVER changes and is what can give you the most precise look into your body’s make-up.
DNA testing is becoming more and more prevalent in our society, especially in the areas of health and nutrition. DNA has been the hot topic of the news and media over the past few years, clearly dictating the trends towards gene-specific nutritional and health programs:

"DNA analysis can identify potential health problems and prevent drug reactions." -- MSNBC 1/25/2005

“Genetic testing sounds like a concept straight out of a science fiction novel. But this chance to peek into the future of your health is an opportunity some people are taking today. People with a family history of certain medical conditions can plan for their futures by understanding their health risks." -- CNN 4/12/2006

By customizing nutrition to your unique genetic profile, you can rest assured that you are providing your body with EXACTLY what it needs for optimum health.  Call me personally for more information .... 303-919-8627.

How Accurate is the DNA Testing Technology?

There are several types of methods to determine DNA polymorphisms (SNPs). GeneLink utilizes the Single Base Chain Extension (SBCE) assay which is the most accurate method availalbe to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms. The SBCE assay identifies the (SNP) directly on the DNA.

The profile accuracy is nearly 100%. The assay is performed robotically, which virtually eliminates human error in sample manipulation. In rare instances, when a particular SNP area of a profile 'does not read', it is repeated. All repeats thus far have been successful.

Frequently Asked Questions...

Why should I use a GeneLink Profile Assessment for personalizing my nutritional skin care programs?
Not everyone is alike - and not everyone responds to nutrients, topical active ingredients or even medicines in the same way.
In the absence of a sophisticated measurement tool such as GeneLink's Nutragenetics and Dermagenetics Profile Assessment, most people are forced to simply guess which nutritional and skin care products are right for them.
GeneLink's powerful Nutragenetic and Dermagenetic Profile Assessments provides a scientific basis for more accurately predicting your unique needs.  This information is used to guide tailored nutritional and skin care formulations to help you achieve optimal health and performance.
You can expect superior results, improved healthy aging benefits and the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are taking advantage of a scientifically personalized program that is focused on your unique physiologic makeup.

A Good Self-Prescription

We anticipate rapid advances in knowledge related to SNPs in the genes of many metabolic pathways.  Therefore, we have a vigilant process in place to continually identify SNPs that have potential preventative and helath maintenance relavance.

With over half of all adult Americans using supplements, the benefits of being able to more precisely target an individual's nutritional needs seem ovbious.  Imagine a world in which we know exactly which, or how much of a vitamin, mineral, or nutritional regimen we need for optimal health, energy and well being.  For the clinicians and practioners who believe their patient's health interests are best served by cutting edge science, keeping a sharp eye on new advances in genetic science seems a self-prescription worth observing!

Man Up and Take Care of Your Skin

Where did the idea come from that using skin care is a feminine thing?

Men pioneered skin care long before women ever tried it. In fact it was the manly-men who used it first — fishermen and farmers.

Men used to be smart about their skin — they protected themselves from the harsh elements with lotions and creams and no one felt like a sissy. But then something changed and all of a sudden it’s a chick thing.
If using deodorant was a chick thing, would you skip that, too? What about brushing your teeth? You put on sun screen when you’re out in the sun, right? Why? To protect your skin!

So using a serum to protect and repair your skin is not much different.
Especially if the product is designed specifically for your DNA. It’s not feminine, unless you are.
If taking care of yourself isn’t enough to convince you, lets talk money.
Skin care is:
■a $43 billion industry worldwide

■There are14,000 companies

Only 1 company has a DNA customized product – and they have patents on the process
This is the kind of business breakthrough that makes people rich. Most people don’t get an invitation to participate in profits like these. You have to be invited. You have to know someone.
And that’s the case with GeneWize, too. You’re here because someone knows you. This isn’t advertised. You have to be invited.
When DNA customized skin care explodes onto the market — and it will — you could be one of the few who took advantage of it early and profited. But you can’t just sit there. You have to go to work.
Now is the time. Take care of your health. Take care of your wealth.

Slow the Aging Process

Can we slow the aging process by increasing the intake and topical application of anti-oxidant vitamins and active ingredients?  Yes.  There are now numerous published reports showing that in animal models, supplementation of the diet and topical application of anti-oxidants, at levels higher (and usually many fold higher) than the recommended minimum daily intake and topical application of anti-oxidants, can slow aging of memory, skin aging and motor function and increase the life span.
