You Can't Have My DNA!

Did you know you leave your DNA at a restaurant every time you go out to eat? Did you also know that a simple swabbing of your cheek can provide you with your own unique vitamins? A formula is created specifically for your needs based on the results of your DNA testing!
Some folks are afraid to submit their DNA to better their health. Although it's important to know you are protected by law and that DNA results cannot be shared; you should also learn how acceessible your DNA is to anyone who really wants it. Specimens from which DNA can be extracted are: Sweaty t-shirts, undergarments, paper or plastic cup, glass, ear wax, fingernail clippings, socks, urine, licked stamps, (inner) cheek swabs, hair with roots, dried blood, whole blood, chewed gum, dental floss, cigarette butts, used tissue [boy, have I got a lot of these!], dried skin, used razors, semen stains, vaginal stains, and Other biological specimens [I shudder to think].
My dear friend, who recently joined GeneWize (a company who uses DNA to promote health and wellness), was afraid to share her DNA in fear that they could reproduce her at any time. It was funny to imagine hundreds of people who looked and acted exactly like my friend running around. After she felt comfortable with the integrity of this new bioscience company, she called me immediately and said "Okay, I've done it ... they now not only have my DNA - they have my credit card number too!" This can be scary but an incredible amount of time has been spent to protect your identity in both cases.
Understanding how accessible your DNA is to others is just the beginning of mentally preparing yourself for the future.....which is NOW! CSI and other popular shows help our culture realize this era of genomics may just be a new and acceptible way to promote good health. You can even find DNA samples of famous people available to you for a small fee (or not so small depending on their popularity).
By the way, Burt Reynold's skin DNA is currently out of stock on e-bay ... in case you wanted to know.
